The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has publicly acknowledged the party’s past missteps while in government and appealed to Ghanaians for forgiveness, promising that those errors will not be repeated if the party is re-elected.
In a frank admission, Kodua said the NPP made considerable strides during its tenure but concedes it fell short in some key areas.
“As a political party, we certainly gave it our all, but we acknowledge that we didn’t get everything right,” he stated. “I want to sincerely apologise on behalf of our previous administration and the entire party for the things we failed to do correctly.”
Following its defeat in the 2024 general elections after two terms in power, the NPP has embarked on a period of deep reflection and internal reform.
Kodua underscored the party’s commitment to learning from its past and emerging stronger. “We’re dedicated to correcting our course. The positives we achieved will be strengthened, and the mistakes — we’re determined not to repeat them.”
As part of its renewal efforts, the NPP is preparing for key upcoming events, including its presidential primaries on January 31, 2026, and a major constitutional overhaul during the National Delegates Conference in July 2025. Party leaders have stressed that rebuilding internal structures is central to regaining the confidence of the Ghanaian electorate.
