The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with alleged SIM Box fraud operations uncovered within residential apartments at the Sakumono Ramsa Site.
The arrests were carried out on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, following intelligence-led operations targeting suspected cyber and telecommunication-related crimes in the area.
The suspects have been identified as Timileyin Fakunle, aged 30; Begun Adedeji, aged 31; and Olamide Roheemot, aged 28. Police said the three were arrested from separate apartments believed to have been used as operational bases for the alleged fraudulent activities.
A search conducted at the respective apartments led to the retrieval of sophisticated electronic equipment, including SIM boxes and several assorted SIM cards. The items are believed to have been used to facilitate the illegal routing and manipulation of telecommunications traffic.
In a press release signed by the Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, Superintendent of Police (SUPT) Ms. Juliana Obeng, disclosed that during interrogation, the suspects mentioned two other accomplices, identified only as Mike and Kpalumi, who are currently on the run.
The suspects further told investigators that the alleged leader of the operation, identified as Tomy, a Chinese national, is also at large. According to police, Tomy is believed to remotely control the SIM boxes used in the suspected fraud.
Ms. Obeng stated that the Police are working closely with the National Communications Authority (NCA) to ensure the safe removal and technical examination of the seized exhibits. This process, she noted, is expected to provide critical technical evidence to support ongoing investigations.
The three suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
The Accra Regional Police Command has meanwhile cautioned the public, particularly property owners and estate managers, against renting or subletting premises to unknown persons without conducting proper background checks. Residents have also been advised to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the Police.
The Command reiterated its commitment to intensifying efforts to combat cybercrime and telecommunication-related offences within the region.
