Police arrest 7 persons over deadly clash in Nima

The Director General Public Affairs, ACP Kwesi Ofori, addressing the media at the National Operations Center on the disturbance at Nima in the Greater Accra Region said, Nima a suburb of Accra witnessed gangsterism and mass violence around 3:30 pm and the police quickly and immediately intervened.

“Seven people have been arrested, Five are presently here with us and the other two are on admission under police guard which suggests they are under arrest” he said.

He added, the Police is pursuing the criminals in and around Nima and it’s environs to make sure they are arrested and face justice.

ACP Kwesi Ofori noted that the gangsterism groups are rivals led by Komoji Alias Ibrahim Hussain and Bombom Alias Ali Awudu who went all out today on the streets of Nima.

“We are in control and like to let the good people of Nima know that the police will be there at all time to protect life and property and that will not give room for such criminals to disturb the peace and security of Nima” he said.

He added that, those arrested will be subject to investigation and those found culprit will face the law.

“The police administration also will like to make it clear that it will not sit unconcern for such criminals to take our street and deploy violence”he said.

ACP Kwesi Ofori noted that the Police has retrieved some important items on the street which would be used as evidence.

He added that, the exercise to maintain order in the Nima environs continues under the leadship of the Director General of Police Operations and the Accra Regional Commander.

“Also identify as Appiah who was shot during the incident is currently responding to treatment at 37 Military Hospital and the police will continue to monitor development closely” he added.
