The Ashaiman District Police Command has arrested a man identified as Francis Alidu for unlawful possession or control of narcotic drugs, contrary to Section 37(1) of the Narcotics Control Commission Act, 2020 (Act 1019).

The arrest followed a collaborative intelligence operation between the Ho Police Command and the Ashaiman District Police. According to police reports, on Friday, October 31, 2025, at about 9:10 p.m., the Ho Police informed their counterparts in Ashaiman that a commercial bus driver had been apprehended in possession of quantities of compressed substances suspected to be Indian hemp and that the intended receiver of the consignment was based in Ashaiman.

Acting swiftly on the intelligence, police tracked and arrested the suspect, Francis Alidu, at KFC, Ashaiman. While being interrogated, Alidu received a call from another commercial driver who informed him that a sack of cassava had been given to him for delivery to the suspect. The sack had been dropped off in front of the KFC outlet.

Police immediately proceeded to the location, retrieved the sack, and brought it to the station. A search conducted in the presence of the suspect revealed eighteen (18) compressed slabs of a substance suspected to be Indian hemp concealed among the cassava.
