The Ghana Police Service has arrested Oheneba Nana Asiedu, a radio and television presenter based in Kumasi, for allegedly spreading false information, in violation of Section 208 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
According to a statement from the police, Oheneba Nana Asiedu is accused of making claims during a broadcast on Wontumi FM that voters would cast their ballots for presidential candidates on different days during the December 2024 general elections.
The police have deemed this statement false and potentially disruptive to public peace.
The arrest followed an invitation for the presenter to assist with investigations after the remarks went viral on social media.
Oheneba Nana Asiedu is currently in custody and is expected to appear in court soon.
