Police officers of the Tamale Regional Command have arrested three suspected armed robbers, including two University for Development Studies students.
The suspects, identified as Peter Abugri (24), Asuma Shaini (22), and Yakubu Wakasu (19), have been charged and remanded to police custody, with the case adjourned to April 19, 2026.
A search of the suspects’ hostels recovered a pistol, an iPhone 17 valued at GH₵21,000, a jackknife, machetes, and a Haojue motorbike worth GH₵19,000.
The victim reported to police at the Bolga-Nasia road checkpoint that he was attacked while relieving himself in nearby bushes.
He told the police that the three armed men, wielding a pistol and a knife, stole his iPhone 17 Pro and a Haojue motorbike.
The complainant is said to have tracked the stolen iPhone and discovered that the suspects were heading toward the Northeast Region.
Acting on this information, police at the checkpoint conducted a search.
One suspect was arrested along with the motorbike, and subsequent searches at their hostels led to the arrest of the other two suspects.
