The Tema Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals in connection with a robbery incident that took place on February 26, 2025, at Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region.

The suspects, identified as Karim Fatao and Wonder Babanawo, allegedly attacked and robbed a businessman on that day.

Confirming the arrests, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dede Dzakpasu, Public Affairs Officer, stated in a press release that Fatao was apprehended on the same day of the crime, while Babanawo, who had been on the police wanted list for multiple robbery cases in Ashaiman and parts of Tema, was arrested on Saturday, March 29, 2025.

A search conducted on the suspects led to the retrieval of a Ruger pistol loaded with fifteen rounds of ammunition, 30 mobile phone covers, six SIM cards, a quantity of dried plant material suspected to be Indian hemp, a Samsung tablet, and three copies of land indenture.

“One of the suspects, Karim Fatao, was put before the court on March 3, 2025, and has since been remanded into police custody, whilst suspect Wonder Babanawo is currently in custody and will be put before the court to face justice,” the statement read.

The Tema Regional Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to fighting crime and ensuring the safety of residents.

They also urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement authorities by providing information that could help combat criminal activities.
