The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the violence that erupted at the Omanjor Chief’s Palace during the climax of the Homowo Festival on Saturday, August 30, 2025.

According to a statement signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs, Accra Region, the arrests followed swift intelligence-led operations by the Accra Regional Police Command in collaboration with the Special Support Unit from the National Headquarters.

The suspects have been identified as Christian Saka Ahianyevi, 35, a private security officer, who was picked up on August 30, and Newton Alotey, 26, a dispatch rider, who was arrested on August 31. Both are alleged to have played key roles in the violence that left three persons dead and several others injured.

During the operations, police retrieved 18 spent BB cartridges from Newton Alotey.

Christian Saka Ahianyevi was also found in possession of a locally manufactured pistol, a cutlass, and other exhibits, all of which have been secured as evidence.

The suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while security has been intensified within Omanjor and its surrounding communities to prevent further disturbances.

Superintendent Juliana Obeng further assured the public of the Police Service’s commitment to restoring calm, urging all factions to exercise restraint and cooperate with security agencies.

She also appealed to the public to provide credible information on the whereabouts of the remaining suspects by contacting the police emergency numbers 18555 or 191.
