The Ghana Police Service’s Special Support Unit has arrested two employees of a private company based at North Kaneshie in Accra for allegedly conspiring to rob their employer during a planned cash transfer operation.
The suspects, identified as Joseph Danso, also known as Nana Yaw, and Fauzan Alhassan, were apprehended on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, while closely following a company dispatch rider who was transporting funds to a bank branch at Abossey Okai.
According to police sources, intelligence gathered earlier had revealed a planned robbery involving the suspects and two accomplices, known only as Frankie and Asante.
The group had allegedly devised a plan to intercept and rob the dispatch rider during a routine cash movement.
Based on the intelligence, officers from the Special Support Unit mounted a surveillance operation, which led to the swift arrest of Danso and Alhassan while they were actively tracking the dispatch route.
During preliminary interrogation, the two suspects reportedly confessed to their roles in the attempted robbery and provided the identities of their accomplices, who are currently on the run.
Both men are in police custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations. Law enforcement officials say efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects and bring them to justice.
