The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has assured the general public of adequate security measures ahead of a planned demonstration by the Generational Rights Protection Society (GRPS) scheduled for Monday, April 28 to Tuesday, April 29, 2025.

The demonstration, which is expected to run from 4 p.m. to 12 midnight on both days, will follow a route starting from Obra Spot through Ring Road Central and Liberation Road, ending at Liberation Square.

Superintendent INK Yeboah (PhD), the Station Officer at the Accra Regional Public Affairs Unit, in a signed release said, “The Command has taken all necessary steps to ensure the safety and security of the demonstrators and the general public during the two-day event.”

He added that police officers would be deployed along the route to assist with crowd control and to manage vehicular and pedestrian movement.

“We entreat drivers, commuters, and all road users to cooperate with our personnel on the ground and follow their directions to minimize inconvenience,” he urged.

The Police Command also reminded the organizers and participants to comply with the provisions of the Public Order Act, 1994 (Act 491), which governs public gatherings and demonstrations.

“We expect the cooperation of the organizers and demonstrators to ensure a peaceful and orderly exercise,” Superintendent Yeboah stated.

The Police further reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of all citizens throughout the demonstration period.

“We urge the public to support our efforts and remain calm and cooperative,” he concluded.
