The Accra Regional Police Command has announced that comprehensive security arrangements have been put in place for the demonstration scheduled for Monday, May 5, 2025.

In a statement signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, the Police assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety of demonstrators, road users, and the general public.

The demonstration is expected to commence at 7:00 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m., following a designated route: the park opposite the Supreme Court – MOFA Traffic Light – in front of the High Court Complex – Ministries Police Station – Stadium Traffic Light – Osu Cemetery – Parliament House – Liberation Road Roundabout – Ring Road Central – Christ the King.

“Police officers will be deployed along the entire route to ensure safety and maintain public order. Additionally, officers will be positioned at key intersections and high-traffic points to monitor proceedings, manage vehicular movement, and assist other road users,” Supt. Obeng stated.

To facilitate smooth traffic flow and minimize disruptions, temporary road diversions will be enforced. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes and comply with instructions from police officers to avoid congestion and delays.

The Police have also urged all participants to conduct themselves in accordance with the law and cooperate with security personnel throughout the event. Organizers have been reminded to adhere to the provisions of the Public Order Act, 1994 (Act 491), and ensure the demonstration remains peaceful.

“The Accra Regional Police Command remains committed to safeguarding public safety and the right to lawful assembly,” the statement concluded.
