A swift intelligence-led operation by the Nsawam District Police Command has led to the rescue of two kidnapped men and the arrest of five suspects who allegedly demanded a ransom of GH¢400,000 for their release.
On Saturday, 10th January 2026, at about 3:20 p.m., police received credible information that two men travelling from Accra to Anyinam had been abducted and taken to an unknown location. The kidnappers reportedly contacted the victims’ family, demanding a hefty ransom before setting them free.
Following negotiations, the suspects instructed the family to make an initial deposit of GH¢5,000, a move that enabled police to activate a carefully planned response.
Acting swiftly, officers lured the suspects to a drinking spot near the Suhum Roundabout, where a joint police operation, with support from the Suhum Police, resulted in the arrest of five suspects: Suleman Salifu (24), Godfred Owusu (26), Antwi Bismark (27), Anas Salis (38), and Gyamfi Isaac (33).
The operation led to the successful rescue of the victims, Seidu Sambiane (28) and Ibrahim Alhassan (42), unharmed.
A search conducted on an unregistered Acura 4×4 vehicle used by the suspects uncovered a cache of incriminating items, including an unspecified amount of suspected forged currency notes in GH¢100 and GH¢200 denominations, specimen paper cut to the size of currency notes, GH¢4,600 in cash, a foreign pistol, a sharp cutlass, talismans and amulets, and five mobile phones.
The suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations, while efforts continue to unravel the full extent of the criminal network.
