The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with a violent armed robbery attack at a fuel station at Kwafokrom near Nsawam in the Eastern Region, which left a security man and a pump attendant injured.

The suspects, identified as Amos Boame and Collins Adjei, were apprehended following swift police response and intelligence-led operations after the incident occurred on Sunday, May 24, 2026.

According to a press statement signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) David Fianko-Okyere, Public Affairs Unit of the Eastern South Regional Police Command, another suspect, identified only as Ashivie, is currently on the run and being actively pursued by the police for his alleged role in the robbery.

DSP Fianko-Okyere indicated that during the robbery, the suspects stormed the station and shot the security man and a pump attendant, both of whom had taken refuge in an office within the facility. The victims, according to police, are currently in stable condition and receiving medical attention.

The robbers also made away with cash amounting to GH¢13,460.00, while other stolen items, including provisions, are yet to be fully quantified.

Following the incident, police retrieved several exhibits from the suspects and the crime scene. These include an Adler Tupal pump-action gun with serial number 245A-12944, one electronic shocker, a cutlass, and a bulletproof vest, all of which are being retained for evidential purposes.

Crime scene investigators also discovered nineteen spent cartridges and one live round of ammunition during a thorough inspection of the area.

DSP Fianko-Okyere further noted that “strenuous efforts are underway to arrest the remaining accomplices to face prosecution,” adding that police intelligence operations have been intensified to ensure all individuals connected to the attack are brought to justice.

He also urged residents of Kwafokrom and its surrounding communities to remain calm, assuring them that the police, in collaboration with management of the filling station, have put in place enhanced security measures to prevent a recurrence of such attacks.

Meanwhile, the arrested suspects are in police custody assisting investigations as they await further legal proceedings.
