The Volta Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service has destroyed 600 sacks of Indian hemp, totaling 47,530 kilograms and valued at approximately GH¢4.2 billion, concluding a high-profile narcotics case that had been pending at the Ho Circuit Court for several years.

The seized consignment, confiscated in 2022, was incinerated on Monday, November 17, 2025, at the Klefe dumping site in Ho under strict security.

The destruction was carried out following a court order by His Honour Felix Datsumor after the exhibits were officially submitted as evidence in the case against Yao Kwadwo, also known as Wallako, and two accomplices.

Officials from the Circuit Court, Attorney General’s Office, Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) supervised the operation. Police and National Security personnel ensured full compliance with legal and procedural requirements.

The exercise highlights the Ghana Police Service’s ongoing commitment to fighting drug-related crimes and upholding laws governing controlled substances.
