A police dispatch rider with the Transport Department at the Ghana Police Headquarters, No. 49200 G/L/ Corporal Rauf Addrisu lost his life on Friday, March 3, after being involved in a ghastly accident.
Rauf Addrisu was leading a convoy from Accra to Kumasi when he met his untimely death after a head-on collision with a Grandbird VIP bus with registration number GW 9944-10 with passengers on board from Kumasi towards Accra.
The suspect driver of the bus, 44-year-old Samuel Boateng, on reaching a section of the road close to the Osino Police station on the Accra-Kumasi highway, failed to observe traffic ahead.
In the process, he crashed head-on with Corporal Rauf Addrisu who was riding Honda motorcycle No. GP 4710 leading a convey from Accra towards Kumasi direction.
G/L/Corporal Rauf Addrisu died on the spot.
The body of Corporal Rauf Addrisu has been conveyed and deposited at the Enyirise Government Hospital.
The driver has been detained at Anyinam Police Station to assist in the investigation while the accident vehicle has been sent to Anyinam accident Square for safekeeping.
