A police informant whose efforts led to the arrest of three gold and fake currency syndicate (money double) suspects at Adjen Kotoku in the Ga West Municipality in the Greater Accra Region is calling on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. Akuffo Dampare, to offer him security because of the constant threat of death on his life.

According to the man, in April 2022, he led the police to arrest Seidu Samyaley, 28, Samuel Yormekpo, 42, and Nicholas Atsidokpo Kade, 40, who are notoriously known for money-doubling business and the exhumation of a male body buried at their residence.

The informant said that during the process of chasing the alleged suspects, his identity was Brown, and because the suspects are all back in town, there are constant threats and attacks on his life and the lives of his family.

The informant told the Republic Press that on the day of the arrest, police discovered fake currencies and gold bars in the possession of the three suspects.

He said in view of his influence and deep connection with the people of Adjen Kotoku, “I am informed on any strange activities in the area because of my influence and it was one of this information which got me to lay an ambush in April last year at a location where the criminals were captured operating in a gated house, and I observed their dark activities. As it turned out on that day, one of the victims of their fake gold dealings was killed. This has been confirmed by the police.

“My laying of the ambush was not only to gather information before calling in the police, but I physically gave the criminals a chase and accosted them before the police patrol team arrived to pick them up, but the ringleader managed to run away,” he stated.

Initially, the police didn’t want to dig up the heap of sand to recover the body but because “I was sure the body was there, one police officer whose name I cannot mention now requested for me to bring a payloader machine to dig up the body and the body was eventually retrieved at my own cost.”

He revealed that not too long after the arrest of this criminal syndicate and the video evidence of the killing of the suspected victim of their scam, the arrested suspects were freed and their release, however, was the beginning of my unsafety and insecurity.

“I started observing that unknown cars were trailing me at night. I noticed this because those cars will stop when I stop and move when I move. The trailing continued to the extent that strange people were now confronting me on my farm, but I have been lucky to always not be alone anytime these strange people confront me.”

On one of the occasions, I was physically attacked in my own house where I sustained head injuries. My legs were hit with concrete blocks as well and just last week, I noticed two different motor riders following me so when I stopped and put off my car light they immediately disappeared.

“As it stands, my life is in danger and have virtually been running from my shadows and living in fear because both my religious activities and my engagement with God seem to have been affected because I am unable to even go to evening church service with my family. This is causing me pain, panic and incurring unnecessary transportation cost because places that I can cover on foot I am compelled to board a taxi or ride on an ‘Okada’,” he narrated.

The informant stated that not even a report to the Adjen Kotoku Police or a follow-up to the Amasaman police station seeking help and protection could resolve the situation.

He added that his fear is born out of the fact that two years ago, another informant by name Mawuko who first blew the cover of the activities of these criminal syndicates went missing and has since not been found and a police investigator who has to relocate from his rented apartment over persistent threats from elements of these group.

“I am therefore using this medium to once again appeal to the IGP TO offer me protection from these dangerous people and called on all well-meaning Ghanaians including the Ga chiefs, religious leaders and the traditional authorities to help fight these crops of criminals who were long time ago banished from the communities because of this same character and behaviour,” he stated.
