Tema Regional Police Command has intercepted a large consignment of suspected narcotics following an intelligence-led operation in the Greater Accra Region.
On the early hours of February 15, 2026, at approximately 0010 hours, officers of the Regional Patrols Unit stopped a Sinotruck tipper truck, registration number GN 993-14, at Sege Akpla Manya.
The vehicle, loaded with fertilizer sacks, was found to contain 3,009 slabs of plant material suspected to be cannabis. The driver abandoned the truck and fled upon sighting the police.
The vehicle and its contents have been impounded at the Tema Regional Police Headquarters for further investigation, with efforts ongoing to apprehend the driver and determine the vehicle’s ownership.
In a related incident on February 16, 2026, at about 1910 hours, two suspects, Victor Asigbey (40) and Peter Asigbey (35), were arrested at the Regional CID Office in Tema for attempting to bribe police officers with GHS 150,000 in an effort to secure the release of the seized truck and narcotics. The cash was recovered and retained as evidence.
Both suspects remain in police custody assisting with investigations and are expected to be arraigned in court on February 18, 2026.

This operation marks another decisive step by Ghanaian law enforcement in preventing illegal drugs from reaching communities and curbing attempts to undermine the justice system.
