The Central East Regional Police Command has launched an investigation into a disturbing viral video showing a police officer instructing members of the public to tie a physically challenged man, seated in a wheelchair, to an electric pole.
According to an official statement signed by DSP Victor Kofi Dosoo, Head of Public Affairs for the Central East Region, the video was first brought to the attention of police authorities on Thursday, July 24, 2025, around 11:00 a.m. The incident reportedly occurred at Gomoa Budumburam in the Central Region.
“In response to the video, the officer involved has been withdrawn from duty with immediate effect pending further investigations and the application of necessary sanctions,” the statement read.
The police command has described the conduct captured in the footage as highly concerning and emphasized its unwavering commitment to upholding professionalism within the service.
“We wish to assure the general public that the Ghana Police Service remains committed to ensuring that all personnel conduct themselves in a professional manner in the performance of their duties,” DSP Dosoo stated.
The command is urging anyone with additional information about the incident to assist in the ongoing investigations.
