The Ghana Police Service has apprehended nine individuals in connection with the arson attack on the Electoral Commission (EC) office at Ayensuano in the Eastern Region.
This incident is part of a series of post-election disturbances that have gripped parts of the country.
The latest arrests bring the total number of suspects detained nationwide for election-related violence to 106. All suspects are currently in custody and are assisting the police with investigations.
Authorities have assured the public that the legal processes are being followed to ensure that justice is served.
In a statement, the Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order, emphasizing the collaboration between the police and other security agencies to protect communities across the nation.
“We wish to once again assure the public that the Police and other security agencies are committed to the protection of our communities to maintain law and order,” the statement read.
The police have urged citizens to remain calm and to provide any relevant information that could assist ongoing investigations.
