A police officer wounded in the line of duty on Election Day is reportedly receiving little to no official support as he fights for his life at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
Inspector Alfred N. Kuuzaa (PN: 27796) was shot on December 7, 2024, while returning from election duty in Atebubu. The assailants, suspected to be Fulani men, opened fire on him, leaving him critically injured.
Sources indicate that since the attack, the police administration has not provided substantial financial or administrative assistance for his treatment and rehabilitation.
As a result, there are growing calls for the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the Ashanti Regional Police Command to intervene and offer the necessary support to ensure his recovery.
Concerned individuals and colleagues are urging authorities to act swiftly, emphasizing the need to assist Inspector Kuuzaa while he is still alive rather than offering posthumous recognition should he succumb to his injuries.
The incident has sparked wider discussions on the welfare and protection of security personnel who put their lives at risk in the line of duty. Calls are intensifying for the police administration to prioritize the well-being of officers, especially in times of crisis.
The Ghana Police Service is yet to issue an official response regarding the matter.
