Police probe alleged assault on journalist at Sekondi

The Western Regional Police Command has said that investigation has begun regarding a journalist who was allegedly assaulted by a police officer for parking his car infront of the Sekondi barracks without any notice.

The Western Regional Police Command has said that investigation has begun regarding a journalist who was allegedly assaulted by a police officer for parking his car infront of the Sekondi barracks without any notice.

According to the Police, the Atinka Media Sport Journalist, Solomon Amankwah, was spotted searching for a piece of metal in an accident car parked at the police station, apparently, to use it to open his car door since he mistakenly left his keys in the car.

The press release signed by the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Olivia ET Adiku, who is the head of Police Public Affairs Unit of the Western Region made mentioned that, the actions taken by the journalist resulted to the confrontation between the two.

The Police officer arrived at the scene at this stage and upon suspicious, questioned him about his activities and warned him to leave the barracks.

Solomon Amankwah refused to leave and this compelled the Police to arrest him for further interrogations but he refused and the Police officer applied some force to eventually effect his arrest.
