The Upper East Regional Police Command has launched a manhunt for a tricycle rider who reportedly assaulted a police officer during a traffic inspection in Garu.
Incident Details
According to police sources, the officer on duty stopped the tricycle rider, popularly known as “boboyaa,” for a routine check. However, instead of complying, the rider became violent and physically attacked the officer before fleeing the scene.
The incident has since been reported to the police, and efforts are underway to track down and arrest the suspect.
Police Statement
The Upper East Regional Police say the case is being treated with utmost urgency. Search teams have been deployed within the Garu enclave and neighboring towns to locate the suspect.
Authorities have also called on the public to assist by providing credible information that could lead to the rider’s arrest. The police emphasized that attacks on officers performing lawful duties will not be tolerated.
