In a remarkable show of solidarity and compassion, members of the IGP Special Operations Team in Bole have voluntarily donated blood to save the life of a colleague who was in critical condition at the Bole District Hospital.

The act of kindness took place on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, during a day-long patrol operation led by DSP Karim Mahama and ASP Bawah Jalil.

The patrol, which covered Bole township and its surrounding communities, formed part of ongoing peace-building efforts and the Police Administration’s mandate to maintain law and order in the area.

At about 9:30 a.m., while on duty, the team visited one of their colleagues who had been admitted to the hospital the previous day and was in urgent need of a blood transfusion.

Due to a shortage at the facility’s blood bank, doctors were only able to administer one unit of blood, leaving the officer’s blood volume dangerously low at 3.8 liters, far below the required 11 liters for full recovery.

Moved by the situation, the command took an immediate decision for the entire team to voluntarily donate blood.

Seventy (70) officers participated in the exercise, using six service vehicles and ten motorbikes to ensure full coordination and mobility.

The hospital administration expressed deep appreciation for the police team’s humanitarian gesture, describing it as timely and life-saving.

They commended the officers for their exemplary compassion and urged the public to emulate their example by donating blood to help address the recurring shortage at the facility.

Following the donation, the hospital organized a brief engagement session with the officers, focusing on health education, diet monitoring, and wellness practices. The session was warmly received by the team.

Medical authorities at the Bole District Hospital have since indicated that the affected officer is responding positively to treatment.

However, they are assessing whether to continue his care at Bole or refer him to the Police Hospital in Accra for further management.

After the hospital visit, the IGP Special Operations Team resumed its patrol operations, covering key areas identified as potential crime hotspots, including markets, schools, and community boundaries.

The exercise was completed successfully without incident, and the team returned to base around 5:30 p.m.

The IGP Special Operations Team remains steadfast in its dual mission of protecting lives and ensuring public safety.

Beyond their law enforcement duties, their voluntary blood donation stands as a powerful symbol of service, humanity, and unity with the very communities they serve.
