To prevent interference at polling stations, security escorts for candidates will not be allowed inside but will be stationed 100 metres away.

The Police says, the security escorts will only accompany their principals when necessary, after which they must return outside the designated zone.

The police also cautioned the public and the media against the spread of misinformation and disinformation during the election period.

A command centre will be available to verify information for journalists and the public.

“It is very important that the media and those on social media cross-check facts before publication. This will help us sanitise the media space and ensure only accurate information is shared,” officials emphasized.

The police further clarified that the military will remain on standby and will only be called upon if their support becomes necessary.

The Police urged voters in Akwatia to remain calm and come out in their numbers to vote as the police is ready to protect them.
