The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially assigned the Ghana Police Service as the sole security provider for its upcoming presidential primary, scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026.

Through its Presidential Elections Committee, the party emphasized that unauthorised personnel, including plain-clothed operatives from National Security or any other agency, will not be allowed at voting centres, collation points, or during any primary-related activities.

In a statement issued on Thursday, January 29, and signed by the party’s National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, the NPP warned that any attempt by unauthorised operatives to interfere would be treated as a deliberate and unlawful intrusion into the party’s democratic process, with the potential to disrupt or manipulate the election.

“The NPP will not hesitate to invoke all lawful remedies available to it to protect the integrity of this process. Any unauthorised presence will be challenged and resisted within the bounds of the law,” the statement added.

The party further assured delegates and the public that the Ghana Police Service has the capacity and professionalism to manage security for the exercise, ensuring a free, fair, and safe primary.
