President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is set to deliver his final State of the Nation Address on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.

This will precede the dissolution of the 8th Parliament and the inauguration of the 9th Parliament of the Fourth Republic.

Police reject ¢400k bribe as court remands 3 alleged cocaine suspects

The address, in line with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, will highlight the state of the nation and outline the government’s achievements and challenges as the President’s term nears its end. It will also set the stage for the transition to the next parliamentary term.

According to the Parliamentary Service, the 8th Parliament will officially dissolve on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 11:00 p.m. On the same day, the 9th Parliament will convene for the election of the Speaker and two Deputy Speakers. Members-elect will then be sworn into office.
