The Presidency has formally announced the cessation of appointments for members of statutory boards, corporations, commissions, and councils appointed by the former administration.
The directive, in line with the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845), came into effect following the assumption of office by His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama on January 7, 2025.
A statement issued by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Acting Spokesperson to the President, clarified that all board members appointed by the previous President or a former Minister of State are no longer in office. The statement, however, excluded commissions that are independent constitutional creations from this directive.
The announcement noted that the affected bodies would be reconstituted in due course, in accordance with their respective enabling laws. Until then, the management of these statutory bodies has been instructed to seek clearance from the Chief of Staff before making major decisions.
The President expressed his gratitude to all affected members for their dedicated service and wished them well in their future endeavors.
This development marks an important phase in the transition process, as the current administration takes steps to reconfigure key statutory institutions to align with its governance priorities.
