Ghana’s President H.E John Dramani Mahama will be addressing the nation at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2025, amidst the crash of Ghana Air Force helicopter Z-9 that took away the lives of eight individuals including high ranking government officials at Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region.
The President’s address is scheduled to focus on the national mourning period, the government’s immediate response, and steps being taken to investigate the cause of the disaster.
The crash, which occurred in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, killed Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed and six others. The officials were en route to Obuasi on official duty when their aircraft went down.

The nation remains in a state of mourning, with tributes continuing to pour in from leaders, institutions, and citizens. Earlier in the day, a solemn flower-laying ceremony was held at the Ceremonial Gardens of Jubilee House in honour of the deceased.
The flower-laying ceremony had in attendance President John Dramani Mahama, Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, senior government officials, members of the security services, family members, and citizens who came together in solidarity to honour the departed.
