President John Dramani Mahama will on Monday, May 5, 2025, formally introduce a new Code of Conduct aimed at guiding the actions of all government appointees.

The initiative forms part of a broader – strategy – to – strengthen ethical standards and foster accountability within the public sector.

The forthcoming – directive is expected to outline clear rules of engagement for ministers, advisors, and senior government officials, aligning with President Mahama’s renewed commitment to responsible and transparent leadership.

Announcing the development via social media, the Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, emphasized the importance of the coming days in assessing the government’s progress under the President’s 120-day Social Contract.

“President Mahama enters a critical phase this week, where key interventions under the 120-day Social Contract will be reviewed,” he stated. “It begins with the introduction of a robust Code of Conduct designed to ensure that all appointees adhere to the highest standards of integrity.”

The code is expected to address issues such as conflict of interest, abuse of office, and ethical behavior, while also serving as a benchmark for public service delivery. Analysts say the move signals the administration’s intention to institutionalize accountability and improve public trust in governance.
