President Akufo-Addo has named 24 new District Chief Executives (DCEs) to replace their predecessors, who were fired on Friday, February 2.

In a letter dated February 2, 2024, the President indicated that the decision is accordance with Article 243 (3) (b) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20 (3) (b) of the Local Government Act, 2014, (Act 936).

It is however unclear why the 24 DCEs have been sacked by the president.

Meanwhile, the President has appointed new ones to succeed the departing ones.

In a letter dated February 3, President Akufo-Addo noted the appointment of the new 24 Municipal and District Chief Executives are pending approval by their respective assemblies.
