The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has disclosed that, President Akufo-Addo violated constitutional requirement on State Of the Nation Address (SONA).
His comment comes after the President delivered the State Of the Nations Address (SONA) on Tuesday, February 27 in Parliament.
Sharing his thoughts on key issues raised by the president on JoyNews’ AM Show on Wednesday, February 28, Sammy Gyamfi lamented that, the statement from the president had nothing to do with the nation thus, has violated Article 67 of the 1992 constitution.
“The truth of the matter is that the President violated Article 67 of the 1992 constitution which enjoins him to deliver a message on the state of the nation to the Parliament of Ghana every year and I say he violated that constitutional requirement duty because the statement he presented had nothing to do with the state of our nation”, Sammy Gyamfi said.
He further noted that President Akufo-Addo failed to present the true state of the nation to Parliament, however, spoke about an imaginary country rather than the reality in Ghana.
“That statement he read was a state of an imaginary country in the head of the president, clearly, this is a man who is living in a bubble. It is beyond that the state of our country today is one of bankruptcy, economic mess, economic hardships, high unemployment, corruption, wastage, profligacy and insensitivity”, Mr Gyamfi added.
