President John Dramani Mahama has officially commissioned a new chancery at Ghana’s Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, announced this development via a Facebook post on Monday, February 16, 2026.
According to the post, the chancery is not merely an office complex but a symbol of Ghana’s unwavering commitment to multilateralism and the African Union’s vision.
The commissioning of the new chancery demonstrates Ghana’s resolve to strengthen bilateral ties with Ethiopia and underscores President Mahama’s preparedness to assume the Chairmanship of the African Union in 2027.
The project, spanning a decade, commenced in 2016 with funding secured under the SG-SSB facility but was hindered by economic challenges before the current administration resumed construction and settled outstanding Interim Payment Certificates (IPCs) last year.
