John Dramani Mahama has arrived in the South Korea for a five-day working visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and exploring new opportunities in trade, investment, and technological cooperation.
The President landed at the Air Force Base in Seoul at 8:00 p.m. Korea time, where he was received by Park Kyongsig; Chung Kwangyong; and Kojo Choi, along with officials from the Ghanaian Embassy in Seoul.
Ghana and South Korea have maintained longstanding diplomatic ties, collaborating in areas such as trade, education, technology, infrastructure development, and cultural exchange. The visit is expected to further strengthen these partnerships, particularly in sectors like industry, shipping, innovation, and human capital development.
During the trip, President Mahama is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Lee Jae-myung and meet with Woo Won-shik.
As part of his engagements, the President will attend a ship-naming ceremony at the Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard in Ulsan. He is also expected to deliver a speech during a conferment ceremony at Yonsei University and grant an interview to Yonhap News Agency.
Other activities on the itinerary include a meeting with Ghanaians studying and working in South Korea, as well as discussions with business leaders and corporate executives on potential investment opportunities in Ghana.
The President is accompanied by a delegation that includes Callistus Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and Stan Xoese Dogbe.
