President John Mahama has ordered a full-scale investigation into allegations that two suspicious flights arriving at Kotoka International Airport may be linked to drug trafficking and money laundering.
The claims were raised by Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, a Member of Parliament, during a press conference.
In a Facebook response, President Mahama has instructed key security and investigative agencies, including the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID), the National Investigations Bureau (NIB), and the National Security Coordinator, to work closely with the MP to gather all relevant information.
“We take all such allegations seriously, and I have directed the agencies to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation,” the President stated.
He reaffirmed his government’s zero-tolerance stance on drug trafficking, emphasizing that Ghana would not be used as a transit or final destination for illegal narcotics.
He also highlighted a recent major drug bust by the NIB, in which authorities seized illicit substances worth an estimated $350 million.
As the investigation unfolds, the government has assured the public that all necessary measures will be taken to hold perpetrators accountable and safeguard Ghana’s reputation in the fight against drug-related crimes.
