The Private Newspapers and Online News Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG) has declared war on illegal mining (galamsey), condemning the devastating destruction of the country’s environment and natural resources.
In a strong statement, PRINPAG called on its members to join the national crusade against galamsey, exposing those involved and holding them accountable.
The association urged its members to take a firm stand against the practice and resist any influences that could compromise their efforts.
PRINPAG members will engage in a “naming and shaming” campaign to expose those involved in galamsey, regardless of their position or influence. This campaign aims to ensure accountability and show that no one is above the law.
PRINPAG warned that members found directly involved in galamsey or compromised by financial or material influences will face expulsion from the Association.
PRINPAG pledged its support to the Media Coalition Against Illegal Mining and urged its members to support the national effort to curb the galamsey menace. The association believes that with unity and focus, Ghana can win this fight against environmental destruction.
PRINPAG’s leadership emphasized that the ongoing destruction of the environment is a matter of national urgency, requiring collective action to protect Ghana for future generations.
