Players in private education in Ghana met with the National Teaching Council (NTC) to have a stakeholder’s engagement on how to ensure private school teachers receive training to become professionals.
The meeting discussed key issues regarding the registration and training of non-professional teachers as well as exemption for Post Graduate Diploma in Education graduates.
The parties underscored the need for teachers to take the licensing exams more seriously and adhere to the December 31, 2022 deadline for enforcement.
It was also agreed by the parties to support teachers to meet the requirements and the various associations have been mandated to open registration centres to assist in the registration of the non-professional teachers to be given temporary Licenses after these teachers have satisfied the agreed standards.
In attendance were officers from the Ghana National Association of Private Schools, National Council of Private School Teachers, Independent Schools and Teachers Council and the Ghana National Council of Private Schools.
