The Hon. Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel A. Jinapor, has urged Board and Management of Ghana Integrated Iron and Steel Development Corporation (GIISDEC), to consider Private Sector participation in the iron and steel industry to develop the full value chain of the industry in the country.

The Minister said this during a meeting with the board chair and top Management of GIISDEC today, 9th September, 2021, as part of his working visit to the Corporation to, among others, familiarise himself with the operations of the Corporation.

He stressed the importance of the iron and steel industry to the industrialization agenda of the government and urged the Management to pursue policies to accelerate the development of the industry.

On his part, the Board Chairman of GIISDEC, Hon. Umar-Farouk Aliu-Mahama, said the Board is prepared provide the Management with all the needed support to deliver on the mandate of the Corporation. He craved the support of the Minister in implementing the innovative policies to build an integrated iron and steel industry.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation, Mr. Kwabena Bonsu Fordwor, expressed his appreciation to the Hon. Minister for his visit and called for continuous support from the sector Minister to enable the Corporation achieve its priority project including mineral resources estimation which will enable the Corporation determine the geological grade and value of the iron ore.
