Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mr Jinapor highlighted the strategic role of the Commission in shaping Ghana’s energy future.

“Ghana is at a pivotal stage; private sector participation in the electricity distribution value chain, the green transition agenda, gas as a transition fuel and the implementation of the liquid fuel-to-gas swap, competitive procurement of new generation capacity and standardization of PPAs, and attracting investment for resilient infrastructure are all crucial. The Commission is the principal advisor to the government on power issues,” the Minister stated.

He further charged the board to provide “strategic direction and visionary leadership” while upholding transparency, innovation, and good governance in the discharge of their duties.

Prof. Gatsi, in his acceptance speech, expressed gratitude to the President for the confidence reposed in him and pledged that the board’s decisions would align with government’s key priorities in the energy sector.

The newly constituted board members of the Energy Commission are:

Prof. John Gartchie Gatsi – Chairman

Ing. Mrs. Eunice A. Biritwum – Ag. Executive Secretary

Dr. Audrey Smock Amoah – Member

Mr. Danny Adzei Anang – Member

Ms. Yorm Ama Abledu – Member

Prof. Dr. Ernest Ofori Asamoah – Member

Hon. Naser Mahama Toure – Member
