Bernard Ahiafor, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Akatsi South in the Volta region, has been shortlisted as a candidate for the position of First Deputy Speaker in Ghana’s upcoming 9th Parliament.
Known for his extensive legal background and dedication to public service, Ahiafor has emerged as a prominent figure in the nation’s legislative landscape.
Ahiafor’s educational journey underscores his qualifications. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree, which he earned in 2000, and completed his professional law course to become a Barrister and Solicitor at Law in 2002.
His academic foundation includes an Advanced Level Certificate (1995), Ordinary Level Certificate (1993), and Middle School Certificates spanning from 1984 to 1988.
In addition to his role in Parliament, Ahiafor has accumulated significant experience in legal practice and corporate governance. He has served as a member of notable legal firms, including JustKing & Associates and Kwame Gyan & Associates. His expertise was further honed during his tenure as the Head of Legal and Claims at Star Assurance Co. Ltd.
Since entering Parliament, Ahiafor has represented the interests of Akatsi South with a focus on legal reform, community development, and governance. His nomination for the First Deputy Speaker role is seen as a testament to his leadership abilities and dedication to the democratic process.
