‘Prophet’ Elbernard apologises after failed NPP Presidential primary prophecy

Prophet Bernard Elbernard Nelson-Eshun has issued a formal public apology following the “inaccurate” prophetic declarations he made regarding the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries.

In a statement released on January 31, 2026, the cleric admitted that his widely publicised spiritual predictions—which suggested Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong would emerge as the party’s flagbearer—did not come to pass.

The Prophet, who had utilised books, videos, and various media interviews to broadcast the prophecy, was direct in his admission of error.”That word did not come to pass. I missed it. I was wrong,” Nelson-Eshun stated. “I take full responsibility for this prophetic word. I do not blame anyone or shift responsibility.”

Acknowledging the weight of his “prophetic authority”, Nelson-Eshun expressed deep regret for the spiritual and emotional distress his words may have caused.

He specifically addressed those who made significant life or political decisions based on his declarations, asking for their forgiveness.

“I offer my apology to any believer in whom my actions may have sown doubt regarding the voice of God and His ability to speak to His people.”

Nelson-Eshun further apologised to supporters who may have taken decisions based on his prophecy, acknowledging the disappointment and hurt caused. He said the episode had forced him to reflect deeply on accountability and discernment in communicating prophetic revelations.

The apology comes at a time when political discourse around the NPP primaries has intensified, with the role of religious commentary and prophecy in electoral processes once again drawing public attention.

While the prophet reaffirmed his commitment to integrity and truth, the episode has reignited debate about the influence of spiritual declarations on Ghana’s democratic culture.
