An NDC communication team member in the Kwahu East District, Osei Bonsu Ato Plans, has called on the government to quickly, as a matter of urgency conduct an extensive investigation into what President Akufo-Addo has described as “Unfortunate and sad day”  for the Republic of Ghana.

According to the NDC sympathizer, apart from the safety measures in the country that has been neglected and ignored by members of the public, accidents has always been bound to occur but in most times, people try to refrain from it but notwithstanding, individuals cannot solely blame it on safety measures.

But in an In-studio panel discussion with Kwame Koranteng on Anɔpa Dawuro on Republic Fm, he said, if the incident happened base on some negligence either the company receiving the explosives or the contractors, which did not ensure proper safety measures, the law must deal with that person severely.

“Accidents are bound to happen, but we can always avert it. Notwithstanding, if it happened on the shoulders of someone’s negligence, either by the Chirano Gold firm or the contractors who deliver the explosives, the law must dealt with them. We institute laws because we want orderliness. Once we have constituted a law, and you flout it, it must dealt with you” he said.

He, therefore urged the government to be proactive in extending an interim relief and ensure that persons affected and receiving treatment are well catered for.

He also commended the NADMO, the security agencies and the Red Cross Society for being swift in the discharge of their duties.

Tragedy erupted the entire Apantie town on Bawdie -Bogoso road after a truck carrying explosives belonging to a mining company collided with an Aboboyaa which subsequently hit an electric pole and caught fire. Scores of persons have being injured leaving seventeen dead.

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo has sent condolences on behalf of the government to the bereaved family and the injured persons.
