The Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Hon. James Klutse-Avedzi has reiterated his call to all Heads of Tertiary Institutions to come along with their schools Financial Statements whenever they appear before the Committee.

He added that the essence of the Auditor-General issuing the Financial Statement is to assess the growing concerns of the schools, therefore it makes it almost impracticable for members of the Committee to question Heads of the institutions when they don’t have their Financial Statements before them.

The Chairman made this observation during the first day of the Public Hearing in Sunyani, when some schools failed to bring their Financial Statements at the consideration of four (4) reports of the Auditor-General on Universities and Polytechnics for the period ended 31st December, 2018. Kumasi Technical University, Sunyani Technical University, St. Joseph College of Education and Offinso College of Education. Pre-University Educational Institutions for the year ended 31st December, 2018 in the Bono, Bono East, Ahafo and Ashanti Regions cited in the Reports.

The Committee will also the Reports of the Auditor-General on the Management and Utilisation of Districts Assemblies Common Fund and Other Statutory Funds for the year ended 31st December, 2018 and Accounts of Districts Assemblies (IGF) for the year ended 31st December 2018 and Assemblies in the Bono, Bono East, Ahafo and Ashanti Regions.

The Senior High Schools that appeared before the Committee includes Bandaman SHS, Sunyani SHS, Koase SHS/ Tech, Berekum Presby SHS, Menji SHS, and Chira SHS.

The rest were Nkoranman SHS, Wenchi Methodist SHS, Mansem SHS, Nchira SHS and Nsokor State SHS. The Committee is expected to finish its Public Hearing in Sunyani on Saturday 30th April 2022.
