The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament has on Monday 18th July 2022 highly commended, the Forestry Commission on keeping a clean balance sheet during the 2016-2018 fiscal year.

Mr James Klutse Avedzi, Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee gave the commendation when the Deputy Minister, Hon. Benito Owusu-Bio led the Ministry, on behalf of the Sector Minister, Mr Samuel A. Jinapor appeared before the 25-member committee.

He said, ” Forestry Commission, your balance sheet looks good”.

The Public Hearing was to enable PAC to scrutinize the Auditor General Report of the Public Account of the Ministry, particularly the Lands Commission, Forestry Commission and the Office of Administrator of Stool Lands.

The committee discussed infractions such as ground rent, unearned salaries, abandoned vehicles, and management of records amongst others.

Mr Benito Owusu-Bio on behalf of the sector Minister expressed his utmost appreciation to the Committee for the engagement and pledged the Ministry’s resolve to ensure that the respective agencies and in particular, the Lands Commission comply with good record-keeping practices, especially at a time where the government is embarking on a massive digitization drive to enhance productivity in all sectors of the Ghanaian economy.
