Rabies kills one in Bono East

The Municipal Health Director of Techiman in the Bono East Region, Dr Kwabena Ofosuhene Kusi has revealed that one person has died of rabies.

Mr Kusi disclosed this in Techiman while granting interview to journalist on the health challenges in the region.

He said the Regional Health Directorate is not only known to fight the spread of Covid-19 but now have to also fight the outbreak of rabies.

“For us to record a casualty means that the rabies virus is living among the people,” he stated.

He said the outbreak of rabies in the region is a major concern for health officials adding that the situation has put fear and panic among the people.

Mr Kusi expressed discomfort with the disinterest of pet owners to get them immunized.

He called on the people in the region to be cautious of their health and encouraged the people to report any dog bite to the designated centres for action.
