Colonel Holger Leukert, Head of the Department for Bilateral Military Cooperation at the German Ministry of Defence, introduced the newly appointed German Defence Attaché to Ghana, Lieutenant Colonel Gerstenecker, during a visit to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).
The Chief of the Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Issah Adam Yakubu, welcomed the delegation on behalf of the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong-Peprah.
The visit aimed to deepen bilateral ties and enhance security cooperation between Ghana and Germany.
Rear Admiral Yakubu acknowledged the crucial contributions of the German Armed Forces Technical Advisory Group (GAFTAG) to the GAF, citing their support in areas such as intelligence sharing, logistics, and training.
He expressed appreciation for GAFTAG’s continued assistance and called for further collaboration to strengthen both nations’ military capabilities.
