The Parliament of Ghana has released a detailed schedule for the registration and inauguration of Members elected to the 9th Parliament of the 4th Republic.
The registration process is set to begin on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, starting with online registration. This marks a significant milestone as the country transitions into its next parliamentary cycle.
According to a statement issued by the Parliamentary Service, physical registration will take place on Thursday, January 2, 2025, and will conclude on Monday, January 6, 2025. Targeted messages containing further instructions will be sent to Members-elect via WhatsApp or email.

Key dates for the events surrounding the dissolution of the current Parliament and the inauguration of the new Parliament include the following:
- Election of Speaker and Swearing-in of Members-Elect
- Election of Speaker: Monday, January 6, 2025, at 11:00 PM.
- Members are expected to be seated by 9:00 PM.
- The swearing-in of the Speaker-elect and Members-elect will take place at midnight.
- Swearing-in of the President-elect and Vice President-elect
- Swearing-in Ceremony: Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Independence Square, Accra.
- Honourable Members are required to be seated at the venue by 9:00 AM.
The press statement added that all Members of Parliament will be conveyed by bus from the premises of Parliament to Independence Square for the ceremony, departing promptly at 8:00 AM.
