The head of the Asoma Banda Family and Chief of the Banda Community in the Ashanti Region, Mr Mohammed Abu Banda is appealing to the two wives and the authorities at the 37 Military Hospital to release their brother Alhaji Dr Asoma Abu Banda to the family considering his current health conditions.

According to him, the health condition of the accomplished statesman would be better if the authorities at the hospital see the reason to release him to the family to continue the treatment.

Speaking to the media at a press conference in Accra, Mr Banda said the family became aware of the health conditions of Alhaji Banda some weeks ago and after several consultations, the family has resolved to take custody of their beloved.

“So, the family nominated me, the head and some of his sisters to join other family members from Wenchi, Kintampo and Kumasi to visit him at the hospital. We have seen that the situation in which he is will require the attention of the family,” he stated.

He said the family is aware of some impasses between the two wives of Alhaji Banda, “what we can say as a family is to say kudos to them for their effort so far but at this critical moment we want to take over.”

“We are Ghanaians and our culture gives the family the power to intervene at this material moment. We are appealing to Ghanaians, the various power brokers in the country to see reason with us and release the business mogul to the family,” the family head stated.

“After this presser, we are going to see the authorities at the 37 Military Hospital to discuss with them to release him to the family where we will send him to Kumasi to continue his treatment. When we realized his condition is better, we will then send a message to his wives to come for us to resolve whatever problem exists between them.”

“We are also hearing a court ruling giving custody to the second wife but at this material moment, we think that the two wives have done well and it is time for the family to take over,” Mr Banda stated.
