The Ghana Police Service has called for calm after residents of Taifa in Ashiaman in the Greater Accra Region, were brutalized by some military personnel for murdering an officer during the weekend, stating that they have commenced investigations into the matter.
According to the Police, a joint investigation into the killing of the military officer between the military and Homicide Unit from the Ghana Police Service had begun before the invasion and added that residents were reluctant to give out information, leading to the mass arrest.
Also, the police said before the murder of the young military officer, there had been a military operation in the area where the soldier was killed and suspected the killing of the soldier is revenge.
Meanwhile, the Police have cautioned residents of Ashaiman to desist from acts that will get them into trouble.
The Police noted that the Soldier who was killed by the thugs was a typical Ashaiman Boy, born, bred and Schooled in Ashaiman. All this while, the late soldier had lived with his family in Ashaiman.
The late soldier had also acquired special training in Parachuting and skydiving which the Military is proud of.
