Assembly Members in the Ejisu Municipality have issued a one-week ultimatum to President John Dramani Mahama demanding the immediate removal and replacement of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Jerryne Asante over allegations of financial misconduct and abuse of office.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, July 24, 2026, the local representatives declared a complete breakdown in their working relationship with the MCE, asserting that her continued leadership threatens local administration and project delivery.
George Kuntu Blankson, Assembly Member for the Kwamo Electoral Area, addressed reporters on behalf of his colleagues, emphasizing that the resolution was passed unanimously to protect the municipality’s development interests.
The Assembly Members leveled several key allegations against Asante, including:
Unaccounted Property Rentals: Allegedly renting out two COCOBOD-donated warehouse facilities to private individuals without logging or accounting for the rental revenue.
Flouting Court Orders: Supposedly ignoring a court-ordered demolition directive regarding a building encroaching on a public road in Akyawkrom.
Diversion of Municipal Revenue:
Reportedly diverting GHS 29,000 in property rates and business permit fees collected from a local firm—allegedly exchanging the funds for 32 packets of roofing sheets for personal use rather than depositing them into the Assembly’s Internally Generated Funds (IGF).
The local lawmakers warned that if executive action is not taken within seven days, they expect Asante to resign voluntarily.
At the time of publication, Jerryne Asante has not publicly commented on the claims, and the accusations remain unverified.
