Inhabitants of Kwadaso have appealed to the Kwadaso Municipal Assembly of the Ashanti Region to as a matter of urgency complete the abandoned fire service station constructed by Assembly member, Hon. Ofosu Agyemang to enable them fight fire outbreak in the municipality.

Residents indicated that the absence of the fire service station in the municipality makes it difficult to fight recent fire outbreak.

Currently, the municipal rely on fire tender from other near by districts including Suame and Kumasi metropolitan Assemblies for assistance anytime there is an outbreak of fire.

The construction of the fire service station, which began in 2019, stalled and the project has since been abandoned.

According to the inhabitants, similar projects was started at Suame which have since been completed and operationalized.

“The construction of the fire service station was to provide us with easy assistance to fight fire outbreak, but the project has since been abandoned. The project has been roofed, plastering and painted only left with light and equipment to make the facility function,” a resident Mr Kwakyi Appiah Kubi told Akwadaa Nyame.

He said several appeals to the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Iddrisu Mariam, and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sagnarigu, Alhaji ABA Fuseini, have gone unheeded.

The Assembly member for the Kwadaso North electoral area Hon. Ofosu Agyemang who initiated the project and started with his own pocket money in a phone interview said, he doesn’t have any money again to complete the station hence appealing to the assembly to come in to expedite action on the project to be operationalized.

“If the authorities don’t complete the project, the structure will waste away, so we are appealing to the MCE to work on it as soon as possible to give us relief,” he stressed.

Hon. Ofosu Agyemang disclosed that, the assembly has visited the project.
